The v1 feature set

What your show needs.

Find what matters to your workflow. Browse five groups and open only the detail you need.

Prepare your show.

Turn your audio files into cues you can find, check and adjust.

Shows, Pages and pads

Keep up to 64 cues organised in four Pages, with sixteen pads per Page.

How it works

A Show holds your audio assignments and cue settings. Create, name, duplicate and reorder Pages to match the way you work. Switching Pages keeps Program playing.

Use as many of the positions as you need; empty pads can stay empty.

Import and arrange

Import audio or drag files from Explorer. Move, swap, copy and clear pads to get your layout ready.

How it works

Multi-file import lets you review the order and destinations before applying the batch. It stays within the chosen Page.

Copy/Paste duplicates the audio assignment and its options. Dropping a single file onto an occupied pad asks you to confirm Replace Audio; it never replaces audio automatically. A batch does not replace occupied pads. Move and swap with playback stopped and Live Lock off.

Names, colours and Audio Info

Give cues useful names and colours, choose extra pad information, and inspect their details in Audio Info.

How it works

Pad names, keys and written states help you find the right cue. Additional pad information is configurable; optional file metadata stays separate from your cue name.

Audio Info brings together the source, duration, cue settings and mappings. A mouse click selects a pad for inspection and preparation.

Common audio formats

Bring your WAV, MP3, M4A/AAC, FLAC, AIFF/AIF, OGG/Vorbis and Opus files.

How it works

LimeSound checks the actual format and codec, and explains unsupported or invalid files.

Source files can be up to three hours long and 5 GB (5,000,000,000 bytes). Preparation has additional technical limits; any problem is explained. Looping can extend playback beyond the source duration.

Waveform and cue range

Set the exact start and end of a cue on the waveform or by time. Your original file stays unchanged.

How it works

Use the overview, zoom, Fit All, start/end/range views and Follow playhead to inspect the part that matters. Seek within the permitted playback range.

Stop that cue in both Program and Preview before changing its start or end. You can inspect and select other cues while Program plays.

Level, fades and cue loops

Set the level, fade-in, fade-out and loop for each cue, without editing the source file.

How it works

With Live Lock off, adjust level, loop and fades during playback. Boundary edits apply to the next start and require that cue to be stopped.

Set defaults for newly assigned cues to save repeated setup. Existing cues keep their own settings.

Level Assist

Analyse a cue and review a suggested playback level before applying it.

How it works

You decide whether to apply the suggestion as a non-destructive Pad Level adjustment. The original audio file stays unchanged.

Undo, copy and parameter paste

Undo preparation changes or copy selected settings between cues.

How it works

Paste parameters into an occupied pad while keeping its audio and name. Choose the settings you want to reuse.

Undo/Redo and editing shortcuts respect Live Lock and active-cue protections. Undoing a preparation change does not launch audio.

Separate Preview

Check the next cue privately on a separate output while Program continues.

How it works

Choose a separate Preview output, run its test and confirm that you hear it at the intended destination. Preview plays one selected cue at a time, with its own STOP.

Audition the whole cue with its settings, or listen briefly to Start, End or the End → Start loop join. Short checks leave the saved settings unchanged. If its output is lost, Preview stops until you recheck the setup.

Operate live.

Keep the actual cue and its controls clear, even while you prepare the next one.

One Program cue at a time

Launch the audio you need with clear, predictable transitions between cues.

How it works

Program plays one cue at a time. A pad key or OSC pad command launches a ready cue when stopped; the same active cue can be triggered again for fade-out.

Space or a mapped MIDI action can fade out the current cue, then start another ready cue. The voices play sequentially, without overlap. A different pad key or OSC pad launch is ignored while Program is playing.

Pause and resume

Pause Program, then resume the same cue from its position.

How it works

Use the app controls or mapped MIDI/OSC operation. Pausing keeps the cue in place; resuming continues it rather than starting over.

STOP while paused ends the cue silently. Use STOP for a fade-out during playback, or PANIC for an immediate cut.

STOP and PANIC

Fade out with STOP, or cut Program immediately with PANIC.

How it works

STOP follows the cue’s fade-out setting. Both actions cancel a pending next cue and automatic Page advancement; repeated STOP does not extend the fade.

TALK

Lower Program for speech with one button, then restore its level smoothly.

How it works

TALK toggles temporary attenuation while keeping the saved cue level and Master unchanged. Choose the attenuation, transition times and adjustment steps in Settings.

The control shows its state and effective dB. It operates on Program playback; connect and control microphones separately. Final stop, natural end or PANIC restores normal attenuation.

Page Loop and Shuffle

Keep a Page’s audio flowing, in cue order or shuffled.

How it works

Arm a Page, then launch to begin its prepared cues. The sequence stays on that Page, skips unavailable pads and plays one Program cue at a time.

Shuffle avoids repeats within a round. Page playback temporarily overrides individual pad looping while keeping its saved option. STOP, PANIC or disarming cancels continuation.

Now Playing and Program Monitor

See what is playing, how far it has progressed and when it is nearing the end.

How it works

Now Playing shows the actual cue, Page/pad, elapsed time and remaining time independently of your selection. Playback, pause and fades remain visible.

Left/right meters, clip indication, output status and a protected Master level help you monitor Program. Choose a visual near-end warning in Settings. A loop has no fixed total remaining time.

Keyboard workflow

Launch cues, navigate Pages and edit preparation with configurable shortcuts.

How it works

Pad keys operate on the visible Page while LimeSound has keyboard focus. Configure mappings with conflict checks, and press F1 to see the effective shortcuts.

Grid navigation, Page navigation, waveform zoom and edit shortcuts have their own actions. Text fields, menus and dialogs retain their normal keyboard controls.

Skins and workspace

Choose LimeGlow, Prism, Graphite or Minus, in an adjustable window or fullscreen.

How it works

LimeGlow is the default. Auto Fit adapts the pad layout to the available space. Move option windows between monitors and keep the shortcut reference open while working.

Selection, focus and playback remain distinct across the skins.

Touchscreen pads

Tap a pad to launch audio. Tap the same active pad again to fade it out.

How it works

Operate directly on a touchscreen connected to your Windows PC. Mouse clicks continue to select pads for preparation.

Connect your controls.

Choose the controls and outputs that fit your setup.

MIDI input and Learn

Map your controller to cues, with Learn to capture the controls you want to use.

How it works

Select and apply the input device, then map Note, CC or Program Change messages by channel and number. Learn captures without launching audio; review each mapping before applying it.

Mappings stay with the Show and work without app focus. Momentary presses and releases are distinct. Diagnostics help you check received messages and their resulting actions.

OSC network control

Launch and stop cues over your network, with command results and transport status returned to your setup.

How it works

Use an OSC sender, including a configured Companion setup. Pad addresses refer to Page and position, independently of the visible Page. Copy addresses from the pad menu and update them after reordering Pages.

Configure the input port and feedback destination. Enable OSC explicitly for each new engine session and allow the required Windows network access. Remote operation includes pause/resume; cue preparation stays in the app.

Program and Preview outputs

Choose a stereo Program output and a separate output for private Preview.

How it works

Program can follow the Windows default or a device you select manually. The outputs use stereo channels 1–2 of their respective Windows audio endpoints.

Select a distinct Preview output, run the two-second output test and confirm physical separation from the audience output. Device names alone do not establish where the sound goes.

Visible output recovery

See when a Program output is lost and how LimeSound is attempting to recover it.

How it works

Program keeps its transport position while attempting a compatible available default output. The effective route and any recovery problem stay visible.

Recovery depends on the available devices. Missed audio is not replayed. Preview stops on output loss and needs a new setup check before use.

Protect the operation.

Make changes deliberately and see what needs attention.

Live Lock

Protect preparation controls once your setup is ready, while keeping operation available.

How it works

Playback, pause/resume, STOP, navigation and monitoring stay available. Preparation edits, mappings and output changes for future starts are locked.

The active cue’s identity and position stay protected even with Live Lock off. Stop Program before closing or replacing a Show.

Whole-Show Preflight

Check your whole Show and follow clear actions for anything that needs attention.

How it works

Preflight reviews media, cue settings, preparation, engine, Program output, OSC and saving conditions. Each issue points to its cause and location.

Test Preview and external controllers in their own setup checks, and listen at your real destination before operating.

Prepared media and persistent cache

Reuse validated waveform and audio preparation when you reopen your work.

How it works

Cue readiness stays visible during preparation. Changed sources are revalidated, and the same valid source can share preparation across several pads.

Level, fades and loop edits do not require analysing the whole file again. Keep the original media available for later validation.

Auto-save, snapshots and recovery

Keep your preparation saved and recover the last valid Show state.

How it works

Auto-save and snapshots preserve your work; saving failures are reported. Recovery rechecks sources and outputs, and waits for you to launch playback.

If the interface fails while the audio engine remains healthy, reconnect to its actual state without issuing another launch command.

Status and command diagnostics

Find the cause of a playback or controller problem with clear status and command results.

How it works

Monitoring flags detected engine, media and device problems. MIDI and OSC diagnostics distinguish the received message from the action it produced.

Use the reported reason to correct the setup, then verify sound at the intended output.

Live-session power request

Keep Windows awake while live operation needs it.

How it works

LimeSound requests prevention of automatic sleep and releases the request when no longer needed. Manual sleep, lid actions and critical system policies remain under Windows control.

Reuse and move your work.

Keep the cue decisions, preserve the sources and understand what changes.

Collect Media

Bring your Show and its audio together in a portable copy.

How it works

With Program and Preview stopped and Live Lock off, collect verified copies of the audio alongside the Show. Your original files remain unchanged.

On another PC, choose its Program and Preview devices and test them before playback. Output settings are specific to that PC.

Replace or Relink

Replace a cue’s audio, or find the same original file after it has moved.

How it works

Replace creates a new assignment with your new-cue defaults. Relink preserves the cue and its settings after verifying the original content, directly or through a folder search.

A matching filename alone is not enough. Failed or cancelled changes keep the previous assignment, and active cues remain protected.

Show and preference management

Create or open Shows and choose the defaults that fit your workflow.

How it works

Configure appearance, controls, new-cue defaults, TALK, waveform, Preview and live preferences. Apply accepts the settings you review; Cancel leaves unapplied changes behind.

In-app reference and help

Find your effective shortcuts with F1, then use these guides for setup and support.

How it works

The shortcut reference can stay open while you work. About identifies the app and includes its credits and licences. Essential controls and diagnostics work without an internet connection.

Templates

Start from a reusable layout instead of rebuilding your setup.

How it works

Reuse Pages, colours, defaults and organisation without needing to include audio. Add the cues that suit the next job.

Clone Show

Create a separate copy to adapt your work for another use.

How it works

Edit the cloned Show while keeping the original. Use Collect Media when you also need a portable copy of its audio.

Recent Shows

Return quickly to a Show you have worked on before.

How it works

Opening a recent Show restores preparation and waits for an explicit launch. Check media and outputs when the setup has changed.
